Activity Information

Swimming is a person propelling themselves, by only human movement, through water for recreation, sport or exercise.  As a formal sport, swimming covers a wide range of distances and incorporates 4 main ‘strokes’ (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly).  The winner of a competition is the quickest swimmer to swim the required distance.

Swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the key stage 2 national curriculum.
