If you drink more than the recommended guidelines it can also cause liver problems and contribute towards other diseases such as stroke and some cancers. The daily recommended guidelines are:

  • 3 – 4 units of alcohol per day for an average man
  • 2 – 3 units of alcohol per day for an average women

1 unit of alcohol equates to one small glass (100ml) of wine or half a pint of medium strength lager or cider.
